Hello Kitty Doctor Cake. Yes. You understood that correctly.

For my daughter's fourth birthday, she requested a Hello-kitty-princess-doctor cake. Might as well cram all your favorite things into one cake, right? Fortunately, I was able to talk her out of the princess part...

So, we ended up with this! She is quite happy with it. Although she did have to tell me that Hello Kitty did not really look like Hello Kitty, but it was close enough.

Thanks, Delaney. Appreciate that...

The request? A pile of dirt. I was thinking, OK! Easy! I can do a pile of dirt! Then came the rest of the request...a fondant 4-wheeler,  dirt bike, shotguns, a football and a skull. Oh...

But I survived. I actually enjoy making all the little figurines out of fondant, so this was a fun one. Time consuming, but a lot of fun. And it made for a happy four year old boy!

Rockies Cake

A birthday cake for an 8year old Rockies fan! It went through many incarnations...

But the bat...looked...well. Fleshy. And um... non-bat like. And my husband laughed when he saw it. An obvious sign that something needed to be done. It was his idea to use the pennant. Smart man.

Fire Truck Mayhem

The cake I made for my son's second birthday. I was originally just going to make cupcakes, because I wasn't really in the cake-baking mood. But my husband guilted me into making a, two hours before the party, I decided I'd better make a cake. And it looked like I spent two hours on it. But he loved it, even if he did keep calling it a "choo-choo train". (My son, not my husband...)

Then the stroller fell on it during transport, smashing the rear-end, so at least then I could blame its poor condition on that. :)

God's Hands Baby Shower Cake

"See I have written her name on the palms of my hands." Isaiah 49:16

Yeah...hands aren't as easy as I thought they would be. Fortunately, I was able to cover up much of them with the quote! The clouds are white chocolate and the sky is blue tinted sugar, sprinkled onto the wet fondant.

Chocolate cake with chocolate butter cream frosting. A pretty simple cake, actually. It went quickly.

Daisy Bridal Shower Cake

Made for my cousin's fiance's bridal shower. The only request was that there be neon colored daisies. This was the first time I'd attempted to cover the cake board with fondant. It wasn't quite a success. It's still not dry and I don't even know how I'm going to get it off the might be a disaster.

Ooo lala! Lingerie cake!

Cake I just finished for a bridal shower. It was definitely a fun one! I used the Wilton ball pan for the boobies and as a result, she is very well endowed. (She has Pamela Anderson measurements. )

Wow! Wow! Wow! Wubbzy cake

This was for my neighbor's two year old. My daughter decided he would want to Wubbzy cake and I always do everything she says...

I was happy with it, with the exception of how bumpy Wubbzy is. My fondant stretched too thin and showed every flaw of the cake underneath. I've found that's one of the downfalls of using homemade fondant. It's not as thick as the store bought stuff and isn't as easy to work with. But it tastes so, so much better! I'm willing to have a few bumps in exchange for something that's actually edible. Have you ever tasted Wilton fondant? Ugh.

Graduation cake!

To date, I think this is probably one of my "cleanest" cakes. My edges stayed pretty straight, my lines were pretty clean. Of course, there's always room for improvement and next time I'd support it a bit better. I didn't support the layers and the cake really was too heavy to be just stacked like that. Next time! They also ordered 100 cookies with the University or Oregon logo on them...

They were definitely tasty!

Chocolate cake with chocolate butter cream filling, butter cream grass, marshmallow fondant flowers, leaves and butterfly.  Made for one of my mom's friends. She loved it!

Birthday Cake!

Birthday cake for a 7 year old girl! It was supposed to be Littlest Pet Shop, but I didn't quite pull it off. I think I'm losing my touch... :) This one was a bit tricky for me. I had problem after problem. I used the Wilton bear pan for the body and changed it around a bit, but couldn't quite the the face right. And the whole things seems to be shifting to the right. And my balloons were top heavy and fell over. Good thing it was for a friend... she'll forgive me. :)

Next time, I think I need a denser cake recipe for the 3-D pan. And maybe I should start earlier than the night before it needs to be done!

"Honey Bee" camper

This is the first paid cake I've done in several months. I kind of forgot how to do it...But troubles aside,  I finished it!

It's a 50th birthday cake for a man who loves his "Honey Bee" camper. It's kind of bulgy in spots, but all in all, I was happy with it!

Monster Truck Cake

And here it is...

The Monster Truck cake that I made for my nephew's 5th birthday. I didn't take pictures of the process like I usually do, because I was short on time. I flew through this thing, but all in all, I'm happy with it. It's fun. And it's probably bad, but I've noticed that when I'm not actually getting paid for making the cake, my work isn't as clean as it could be and I don't get near as detailed.

The truck is white cake, stacked and carved, frosted, then covered with fondant. The flames are drawn on with butter cream frosting. The tires are doughnuts (Entenmann's...because they're so tasty. And someone has to eat the remaining four...) The crushed cars are also carved out of white cake and covered with fondant. The base is chocolate cake with chocolate butter cream frosting. The dirt is brown sugar. Gumdrop lights and licorice roll bar.
And while we're on the subject of Monster Truck cakes, here is the one I did for Nick's 4th birthday. This was in 2007 and before I'd discovered fondant. It's strictly canned frosting. But note the same kind of tires...
