- Yes, yes I know it's "flower". A little baking pun there ...ahem. Anyway, I am a stay at home mom of three children; a 3 year old, a five year old and second grade student. "Peeling an orange with a screwdriver" is where I go to ponder life in general. Things like parenting and marriage, diaper rash and dealing with depression and bipolar, the angst of writer's block and the freedom of a good book. Toilet scrubbing and laundry. I might throw in a photo or two, some art, a poem. "Sugar Weave" is strictly about cake. Always a voracious baker (and eater) of cakes, I recently fell head first into cake decorating. I made birthday cakes for my three children and people kept telling me I could charge for my creations. So I decided to give it a go. Who knew frosting (outside the bedroom) could be so much fun?

Very pretty! Nice job. I've never covered a board w/ fondant either. Until recently, I used foil and I HATED it. Now I cover my board (either several layers of cardboard or for heavier cakes, I use sheetrock!) with several layers of tissue paper and then clear celaphane. They look much nicer that way.
That cake is beautiful.
I love this!! I have taken several cake decorating classes and decided to play to my strengths...tastes good, doesn't look so hot! Good for you that you have both!! I'm jealous. ;)
